Why forced choice?
Agreement scales (“agree/disagree”) suffer from two well-known biases: acquiescence (agreeing with almost anything) and social desirability (marking what sounds better). This flattens results — nearly everyone scores high on nearly every trait.
Forced choice — instead of rating isolated statements, you compare options against each other — forces real prioritization. The output is a relative distribution that sums to 100% and actually tells profiles apart.
Our three tests use three variations of the same principle:
- rows — for each row, one word per category; you pick the one that fits you most (20 rows × 4 categories, in Temperaments).
- pairs — paired comparison across categories, optionally in two independent tracks (Affection Styles: how you receive and how you express).
- blocks-most-least — blocks of 4 statements; you mark the most and the least like you (Jung's Archetypes: 9 blocks, 12 categories).
Limitations
Nothing here is a clinical diagnosis. Results depend on the moment and on how honest the answers are; a test captures a portrait, not a sentence. The frameworks (Hippocratic temperaments, affection styles inspired by Chapman, Jung/Pearson-Mark archetypes) are useful models — not definitive theories of personality.
If something in a result causes distress, please seek professional support.
